Madagascar 2013 – UNEP: Adaptation to Climate Change in Coastal Zones of Madagascar considering ecosystems and livelihoods
Okapi worked with UNEP to design this adaptation project, funded by the LDCF. The aim of this project is to reduce vulnerability of the coastal zone to climate variability and change through institutional capacity building, concrete coastal adaptation interventions and integration of climate change into policy and planning in four coastal zones of Madagascar. Taking an ecosystem-based approach, the project includes measures to rehabilitate degraded ecosystems as well as capacity building activities to strengthen decentralized planning, ecological monitoring, and integrated coastal zone management frameworks.
